After pampering herself in the tub, she was amply recovered and eager to find out what was next. The night was surprisingly still quite young. No point wasting any of it. But the house was now empty. There was no hubby. Just a note stating that he had to go find his pants and dress up for their dinner plans for the night. There was just barely enough time, he’d meet her there and she’d take the limo over to the place.

She felt instantly bad. For as much as this man was thorough and had greatly impressed her with his gift giving skills, he had overlooked the simple fact she had changed plans with the driver. There was no theater or dinner plans. Only a good time to be had with her girls.

Searching about, she found a lovely dress to slip into. Fit her perfectly like a glove. The clutch was perfectly suited to her taste, outfit, and matched her eyes and dress perfectly. Looking about the place even more, she found another note urging her not to be late to the date. She had to confess her cancellation of plans. But wait… what if he did know? Maybe he reinstated the plans after all. He could have forgiven her and all was well, she did make the rendezvous on time.

She could not find her phone however. It was nowhere to be found. Plus, the attire she had arrived in was gone. The honk outside quickly brought her into clear focus. It was the limo driver. His famous three toot announcement was unique to him. So, trying not make things worse by being late, she quickly checked the back garage to see if she had left her phone in the car.

Instead of finding her tank, she found her current car parked instead there. Having no keys or phone to access, she gave up and ran to the front to get into the limo. The driver was standing there with a welcoming smile. As she settled in and he was preparing to close the door, she hesitated to ask about where she was going. He noticed and his smile broadened. His steady voice reassured her that her plans were still intact and that she was going to hang out with her girlfriends as planned.

She looked a bit puzzled. The driver continued to inform her that another car had picked up her hubby and sent him on a wild goose chase. By the time he would have figured out that his plans were foiled for the night, she’d be back home roughly in time to see him arrive… and she could lay a guilt trip on him for standing her up.

She loved that. She beamed a bit too much. But then sadness caught her. She was the victim of her own malice. She’d have to endure, but this was not fair. Speaking up would only justify his anger for being played. Not saying anything gave her a shot at turning the tables on him while missing out on more quality time with him.

Either way, she couldn’t call, as her phone was not with her. She asked the driver to go back to the spa so she could get the phone before meeting up with her friends. With professional politeness, he agreed. And off she went.

She never realized that her hubby was across the street in an unmarked car. As the limo pulled off, he checked his phone. All the remaining pieces had just fallen perfectly in place. He looked at her phone debating if he should include it in his plans for the rest of the evening.
