First Hike

Hike2

The Dom vs Sub series has properly ended. The journey was epic. I honestly did not think I would have written for so long and so much. I’ve grown a ton as a writer. The proof is that the original story was barely three posts long. Now, we’ve covered several weeks of this.

The awkwardness of completing a storyline is that I feel like I’m saying goodbye to old friends. These characters have lived with me for a while now. To introduce others in another story is not supposed to feel this weird. As if the whole blog was built around the Dom vs Sub series exclusively. Yet, I know this weirdness is only in my head.

Just like the outgoing storyline, the upcoming one is built off “failed” attempts at writing something. It has been a childhood dream to publish a book. While I’m still working on that, very grateful for the fans who have supported and will support my blogging efforts.

Without digressing too far into chatting about me, let’s introduce the cast of characters for the new storyline. Alex and Evelyn. Originally, they were just a couple doing very graphic things to each other to spice up their romance. Being that writing romance was never a goal of mine, I left the story alone. Today, dusting off the cobwebs. The “First Hike” is a scene in the middle of a love story.

When we first meet Alex and Evelyn, it was in the post called “Prologue” that was featured some time ago. There, the couple was on their honeymoon filled with hope and optimism. Both rookies at making love, they fumbled into something super wonderful and very hot. Both got the intense connection they wanted and needed with each other.

In adapting the very short story for the blog, two things became clear. One, my writing style has dramatically grown. I don’t paint pictures in few words anymore. I have to get much better at being concise. Second, there is no natural place to break up the action. A ten page blog post to me makes no sense.

Had I been filled with profit motives, I’d just sell a pdf copy of how Alex and Evelyn enjoyed their first hike. But, hey, this is not yet about me and my needs. It’s about how Alex and Evelyn find themselves in an awkward position. One that is filled with doubt, pain, dissatisfaction, and frustration.

In the story, I hope to show how motivation to improved mixed with good actions can turn a relationship around. In the end we will see how Alex and Evelyn… wait… not giving that up right now, I do need to see that folks read and enjoyed the whole story. So, no peeking at the ending lol.

To all my fans who write to me and encourage me via social media, thank you so much. Without your constant feedback through this journey of writing, I would not have had the encouragement to continue and push this hard. Not because I don’t want to do this, but adulting is pretty rough and time consuming. Alex, much like me, finds out that time will fly super fast and leave you disconnected from what means so much to you.

Worse, Evelyn is toying with the point of no return. That’s that place where a woman moves you from the lover column into the former-friend zone. Once moved, it is very difficult to get her heart back. The most one can hope for is to get locked up in the dreaded friend zone… if one is very lucky. Evelyn is thinking about it. She’s ready to move on with her life. The hopes from the honeymoon have not materialized and I suspect she’s thinking that she made a serious mistake.

While I’m doing my best to give you background information to excite you about the coming short story, the reality is that I’m also aware that my former writing style did not fill in a lot of valuable information for the reader to appreciate. So, now you’ve got the information, the scene, the understanding, it is soon time to dive into the story proper.

But first… I mean… lastly… because the original story was written well before I started blogging and taking writing very seriously, the flow might have a few bumps in the road. The places where I’ve added content to complete a thought. The two writing styles might not gel as well as I hope… as you know… artists are their worst critiques and critics.

For now, instead of digressing into apologies, here is a quick teaser of what is to come.
