Two Powerful Phrases

A writer was sitting in a lounge listening to the world about him and waiting for some inspiration to hit. Moments of quiet mediation where birds can chirp such a way to inspire a love poem or the hustle and bustle of people might inspire the ire of tempest and mood shifts.

This day, in all the noise and chaos of normal city life, the writer heard a few words in the form of questions that caught not only the attention, but the imagination.

Was this a couple seeking help? Was this a relationship about to turn sour because of miscommunication? Was this just one of those moments where humans realize that they speak very different languages within the same tongue?

Wolf Wednesday – What is the greatest phrase of all time?

powerphrase2

The group of passerby were discussing what was the best and worse possible words/phrases to say to someone you love. What would cause the maximal amount of damage and what was most sought after.

The negativity was of no interest to the writer. The few comments hovering around the positive words of love made for more interesting fodder.

One woman said that she can’t get enough of the phrase “I love you” and defended it staunchly. The males in the group felt it was so cliche and passe. But the women in the group insisted that it was the one thing they ached to hear from their men and felt were denied.

As the group started to fade from ear shot, the writer gathered his things to quickly walk up and catch up. There might be another gem or two dropped before he had to turn West and continue with his day.

One of the guys finally spoke with a tone of authority that quieted the group. His most important phrase was simple and elegant.

“Thank You”

Now this was getting super interesting, maybe a slight delay would help the author glean more words. Too bad there was no legal way to record this conversation. Butting in was an option, but time was against the writer.

When the group recovered from the surprise, they all wanted to know why the phrase “thank you” was so important for males to hear.

The young man clarified that it was not a phrase for males. It was best appreciated by men of valor. Gentlemen needed the phrase “thank you” as much as women need the phrase “I love You”

Sadly, the light turned green. The group carried on and the writer turned left. Fortunately for you all, this is not the end of the blog post. Let us speculate a bit on what this writer might be thinking about what that group might have been discussing as they parted ways.

I Love You

For women, the phrase “I love you” is very significant. Without trying to speak for women as a whole, the emotional implications and ramifications of the phrase is massive. Albeit less so today than it might have been in an era where words were bonds. To convey the notion of love to a woman means that there is a degree of commitment and accountability behind the phrase.

If that wasn’t the case, many males would not have found it an easy means to get sex, get peace, get financial advantages, etc, from females around the globe and for ages.

The phrase “I love you” is more than just an expression of thoughts and feelings. It is a declaration of intent and action.
