The bro code has been a talking point in mainstream media for some time.

Men seem to have this invisible code of conduct that keeps the hierarchy healthy.

The running joke is that women could stand to have such a code. they would be far easier to understand.

Truth: Women have a code as well… and they’re pretty darn good at keeping it.

Once you understand the code that women use, you’re able to relate to them on a level few can compete with.

The Pursuit of Honor – Lite Version

What makes a code honorable, in one sense, is the way it uplifts and improves the well-being of those who keep to the code.

Valor and principles are some of the ways to elevate a code.

Keep in mind, thieves have their own code as well… and it’s not widely accepted as being very valuable to society at large.

A key of Honor

What makes a code work is the shared ownership in the code.

Every person under the code takes great care to learn, understand, master, and share the code.

Obviously, the allure of the code is that not everyone is qualified to know what’s in the code. That exclusivity gives power to the code’s selectivity.

Today’s post will focus more on the sharing aspect of the code.

We have to share the wisdom of the code with those entrusted to abide by the code.

In other words, Doms have to share with other Doms the tricks and tips to being a successful well-rounded Dom.

Subs have to share with other subs the ways of being a sub.

Of course, every person has their own unique take on the values of being who they are… but there are unifying principles.

Example: Some Dom-Sub relationships are not sexual. Others are super sexual. The majority slip somewhere in-between both poles.

In all situations, trust is the foundational corner piece that allows the relationship to exist. Teaching trust is the biggest value proposition to keeping the code intact.

Every BDSM relationship has to be built on trust. One can layer more as trust grows.

Within the rank of Honor

The one aspect of the BDSM community that stands out the most to me, in social media as well, is the willingness to share and support one another.

This value of community is awesome and has to be protected and encouraged.

Let’s all support one another as kings and queens. Lift each other up. Shed light and wisdom when appropriate. Wisely reprove in love… when absolutely needed.

When we make sure our fellow man/woman rise… we rise.

Rising Tides Lifts All Boats

We’re influenced by those around us and we can influence them as well.

By ensuring that our fellow man/woman is doing their best and being their best.. they in turn influence us to be our best.

It’s a good feedback and feed-forward cycle.

All it takes is a small group of jerks to pose as Doms and the mistrust from the hurt… makes everyone look bad.

It also takes a small group of Doms to stand up and set the record straight… and soon… a standard of alpha-ness is set for everyone to know what to expect from a Dom. (Same can be said for a sub as well)

This post is not the most conclusive and exhaustive line of thoughts on this topic.

Just wanted to get a few ideas out there that was on my mind.

In the US, this month is Black History month and hosts Valentine’s Day.

Wanted to give a little spin. We are our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper.

The civil rights movement was able to build enough strength and moment to achieve many goals because people worked together (whenever possible) to share values, techniques, ideas, and aspirations.

In this community, the same concept applies.

We rise on the shoulders of giants by supporting each other and making sure everyone’s shoulders can lift someone up.

An honorable man/woman will uphold honor and ethics wherever they are. Their influence helps others rise up to the code of honor, should they wish to do so.

There are many dark corners of trust that needs explorations and leadership. There are many brightened corners that need protecting to keep shining bright.
