Before the Darkness
Here they were, happy as can be, jubilant, enjoying the bliss of love
Steeped in love, their trust flourished, as they uncovered the corners of life
Light shown the way, as they created positive synergy
Their creativity testing the limits of leather in harmonious empathy
Dancing about, skipping to and fro, they hurried back to each other’s arms
They missed the night, during the day, the place their voices shouted
It was the sound of two making love with reckless abandon
Heartbeats racing, minds merging, bodies quivering
Life was good
Everyone wanted to have their kind of love
They were totally in sync
The power exchange was beautiful
Yet, she kept a vigilant eye
He often wondered why
She didn’t want to be played for a fool
He suspected she’d strike first with any tool
His work never ending, he kept on reassuring
She took note, smile, but kept watch
The story had been told many times before
And she was not going to be a stat any more
So their love grew
Their trust prospered too
He kept notes of her suspicious eye
She couldn’t understand the vigilance in his eye
And just like that
One day a very sad fact
A serpentine line shifted
And there began a bit of a riff
Clearly, as she understood it to be
He had changed and mistaken her best intentions
She was sure it was one of his latest inventions
To test her resolve to their committed convention
From his part, he couldn’t understand her motivation
It’s not like he was running out of positive innovation
But he knew the road was going to be tough
After all, he had connected with an alpha with some rough
He knew he had done everything right
She was miffed by the fact he didn’t see his error
Now there was a bit of tension and terror
The relationship had reach a new type of tremor
Oh how the days were so bright before that moment
That moment when darkness did fall
Always be careful when your relationship runs tall
She now wanted to run before the end of it all
With Darkness on the way…
Taking on a woman’s perspective, as a male writer, is not something I take on very lightly. In order for this series to be balanced, it is important to set the stage by showcasing a view a woman might hold.
The leading lady in this mini series is happy to be in love with her man. She trusts him. He’s earned her trust.
Then. Something changes. Signals get crossed. Her choices start to shape the outcome of the untangling of these signals.
The first third of the trilogy lives on the blog and will be listed at the end of this post.
Before the Darkness… falls
When two people are deeply bound by trust, feelings will easily cross over, same as power. Let’s dive into the story, poetically, and pull apart what happened.
Darkness is going to fall… but… is it the sexiest version of it all?
The saga unfolds below:

Before the darkness - Before the Darkness - Poem - 3 -
Humans are very intuitive creatures. They also leave a lot of cues. If only one pays attention.
She quickly spotted his change in behavior. But he denied anything had changed.
The questions started to mount....
A little reflection - Before the Darkness - Poem - 4 -
When a lady feels her man is emotionally unavailable, she will often back away and reflect on her options
The longer she has to ponder... the darker the options become
Always Ready. Never Sleep - Before the Darkness - Poem - 5 -
If he wants to play emotional games... then... let's play
Her clapback game was fierce. Her talons sharp. Her eyes lit.
Never let a man have the upper hand was her motto
She played to win... especially when guys started acting funny
So… What’s up? - Before the Darknes - Poem - 6 -
She was not asking for much. Just his emotional touch.
She was just checking in to decide if she will check out
She was tired of playing games. Life was to short to raise up a male into a man
Darkened Vault - Before the Darkness - Poem - 7 -
As far as she could tell... he had changed his mind and wanted out. Things were going so well.
