Sitting back, he thought quietly to himself
After investing as heavily into their relationship as he had
It was not clear what had gotten into the lady herself

Her lance had struck deep
Pierced the heart through
The aorta was sliced and gushing it’s bleed

The hurt wrenched at his gut
His mind spinning as he reached for something to clutch
There was no emotional safety in the hut

A smile had to be maintained
After all, he couldn’t let her see him maimed
He’d need to retreat and restate his claim

This could be handled with a serious fight
Her alpha scarce gave him any fright
He just needed time to figure what was right

Holding his chest tight
Not wanting his emotions to take flight
He stepped into the vault and turned off the light

To the outside world
Everything was perfectly alright
That was what a man did when his life was in a twirl

The questions created anguish
The pain just wanted to languish
The taint in the armor left his reputation tarnished

Questioning his ability to provide her bliss
All his soul really wanted was the sovereignty of her kiss
For now, sitting in the darkness, all he could do was miss

The pressure of desire, however, made the vault feel awful tight
There was an awakening deep inside
There had to be another way, easier said within a sigh

Like the cocoon from which emerges a butterfly
He knew he had to take the high road and fly
Forgive her for she knew not what she had cut and left to die

He just wanted her so badly
It hurt like crazy
To want the very source of your cut

Pure insanity
He needed her touch quite badly
Through the cracks, he peeked, sadly

Until the day when retribution was made
His resurrection was stayed
Inside the vault he planned a while to stay

Dark Vault Revelations

There are moments when a partner will accidental hurt your feelings. Worse, there is no grounds for you to get upset and respond in anger. So, the hurt stays private. They were right, they meant well, they didn’t know. The ego got ruined, the mood spoiled, the armor nicked. In these moments, a gentleman is often tempted to emotionally retreat.

What does that look like? A man becomes emotionally distant and withdrawn. Modern women don’t lose much sleep about this anymore, or so they want us to understand. However, beneath the nonchalant attitude is a process that’s quite emotional.

The series “The Darkened Vault” explores a few of the feelings experienced in the process of recoiling from pain and regaining stability to continue the relationship.

The Dark Vault Series

The first third of the trilogy attempted to tell the story from a woman’s perspective. The second third dove into the social media side of telling the story. This last third dives into the man’s perspective regarding the twisting of signals.

The lines may have wound up in a serpentine way, but the desires that stray inside the vault seem to all point in one direction. This poetic journey seeks to decipher some of the secrets behind the closed doors of a recovery vault.

The hope is that the rawness of the feelings comes through clearly. While the experiment was in building a picture using poetry, the revelations often works as bonus content the social media pages can’t hold. There are too many subtext and undertow of currents to capture in one poetic sense. Your imagination can fill in the rest.

Just be careful… the currents in this vault can keep one mesmerized. However, keep your eyes focused on the light. The dark vault is not meant to be a new home, but a quick pit stop in the race of life.
