Epilogue of Ladders

Epic Story Recap

Last week, an epic story was told. “When Ladders Traumatizes”

I’ve not advertised the story on social media on a daily basis because it didn’t really fit the nature of how I share on social media. However. A lot of readers missed the posts as they’re not followers of the blog. They follow and check in from social media. That’s cool. I love the love.

So, for their sake, this week, this post is about sharing with them the whole story. They can binge read or take their time to read through as they see fit.

This then leaves a small dilemma. How about those who did read the full story as it unfolded? Do they have nothing new to read this week? (I did consider a writing break too… let the readers breathe from that epic share)

Far from it. There is something special in this post for this week. But, before going there, for all who are coming to this post trying to figure what is being talked about… on the last page of this post… a complete list of all the chapters of this story is set up for your ease of consumption.

Now…

For Today’s Story

Something nice and sweet. In keeping with the storyline of last week. I think it can stand alone as it’s own story… even though the references are to the long epic

A long time after The Trip…

Bret sat reviewing his thoughts. A lot had changed since the trip he had taken some time ago with the school. His life had gone through a few complex adjustments. There was one thing that had not changed very much from that day, something that was taking on a life of it’s own.

Bret was having visions of the gal he had met on that ladder. It was not the same as it was, it was different. It was always the start point of a dream that shook him to his core. The difference being, instead of the gal’s face, it was Zoe’s face.

Back in the early days of this vision, it was the harmless school-competition-crush set of emotions. Nothing more. Nothing to worry about. However, over the years, the dream intensified in nature and was getting to be a bit scary. Well, not in a bad way scary. In a way that was not typical of the locker room chats he had grown to detest.

See, Bret was not one of those guys who thought that manhood was defined by how many girls got annoyed by unwanted physical attention. The way boys talked and compared notes, all childish to him. He kept to his nerdy ways as it kept the so called popular guys from picking on him for not partaking.

The vision however was far more mature and way more intense than anything he understood. There was no frame of reference. No point of anchoring in reality. Nothing he had read explained any of this to him.

Worse, every time he saw or competed against Zoe, his heart angrily pounded against his ribcage as if trying to force the vision into reality.

This is what worried Bret. He really wanted to make the vision reality. However, there was the problem of permission. How do you ask Zoe for permission to do things to her that most boys her age were incapable of understanding. Even if Zoe was open to having a romantic tryst with him, there was no way to explain to her his needs from that vision.

    1. Thank you so much 🙂 It’s been a lot of fun crafting these various stories.

Enjoy them. I have few more concepts I want to attempt before the year wraps up.

It was a total adventure indeed

  2. The entire series was very good. I am still left wondering what really happened in that loft and wanting to know if Bret finally understood what he was feeling and who he was. But that is why the series is so good.

    1. Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the series.

In the portfolio part of the site…I gave a hint into what took place in the loft.

Depending on how creativity strikes me….I may add another post down the road about the events in the loft. Will be a short post, as most of what happened was shared.

There are other related concepts linked to this series I hope to expand on in the future

Very much appreciate the time you took to read this…and comment 🙂
